At the beginning of October, I registered online to vote. This is the first U.S. election I will vote in, and I registered to vote because the presidential election. Is one of the things I always wanted to do as a little kid. Voting is important for me because it is one of the factors that determines the future and present of our nation.
After I registered a few family members and a friend tried to convince me about who to vote for. My uncle a retired police officer Joseph Nolasco is a Trump supporter. He keeps trying to convince me to vote for former President Donald Trump. “You should vote for Donald Trump because to be honest what has Harris done as the vice president besides allowing people to come illegally to the country,” he said. He insisted that the Democrats caused him to lose money, but didn’t explain how or why. “I personally have lost millions of dollars under this administration of her and dementia Biden. And with Trump us citizens will have more help and respect,” he said.
My other uncle Pedro Urraca backed him up. “Man every time I go to pour gasoline, I feel like I am in the grocery store buying my groceries due to the amount I have to pay. And with Trump this will never happen as bad as it is now.”
Harris supporters in my family have different views. “You should vote Harris because Trump is a full-time racist who only cares about himself and his radical Republican buddies. And if Trump wins, racism will rise. We can’t let Trump win,” said my aunt Betty Ferreira
My best friend Ian Borg, a high school senior, agreed with my aunt. “Trump doesn’t care about women because he really wants to take the right of their own bodies. No women should be told what to do with their bodies or babies,” he said.
My uncle Joseph took me to the second Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The way the people acted surprised me. They yelled and chanted and called out fight, fight, fight like they do at a boxing match. A lot of these people believe in Trump and heavily support his misinformation.
After attending, I am close to making my decision for who I am going to vote for.
