The CCNY LGBTQ+ Student Center will host its Fall Open House on Thursday October 10 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the North Academic Center (NAC) 1/101B. This event is open to all CCNY and CUNY students, staff, faculty, and alumni. You’ll have the chance to learn more about the center, take part in activities and enjoy the company.
“National Coming Out Day and the open house are important for students because not only does this increase LGBTQ+ visibility on our campus. This also showcases a variety of resources available for our LGBTQ+ students,” Jake Nill, the LGBTQ+ Student Center Director, said.
The center will also unveil its Queering CCNY Mural Project created by its student advisory board. The mural shares the stories of CCNY students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
While the open house celebrates those who have come out, Nill understands that is not everyone’s reality. “For our Center, National Coming Out Day emphasizes that no matter where you are in our coming out journey, there is a supportive community and affirming resources for you on our campus and throughout CUNY,” Nill said.
Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are able to add to the mural by sharing their own stories and dropping them off in the center’s drop box located in NAC 1/101B or online via tinyurl.com/queeringccny.
You can RSVP for the event in advance here.
