The top honors in the College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards features category for 2025 went to Tevin McKenzie, a senior and communications major at The City College of New York (CCNY). Tevin’s reporting, “Inside the Noise Crisis in NYC’s Loudest, Neighborhood,” was judged the best feature story in collegiate journalism in Division I, the largest schools.

MFA candidate Jared Hoffman was awarded second place in the podcast category for “The Story Behind the Creation of the Trump Gaza Video.”

The online publication Harlem View won honorable mention in the Media Website of the Year category. Congratulations go to the team of Harlem View managing editors: Susannah Pittman, Katelyn Polanco and Natalie Moreno. Natalie, a senior, continues in that role for the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters.
The awards were announced at the Media Fest conference in Washington, D.C.in mid-October 2025. Judges in the competition are college and university media instructors and advisors from all across the United States. The CMA supports journalism education, student journalism, the First Amendment and freedom of the press.
